The relations between Belarus and Ukraine have capabilities to fill the dialogue with concrete pragmatic content. Heads of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Ukraine Sergei Martynov and Piotr Poroshenko stated this during a meeting in Kiev on 25 February, BelTA has learnt.
The sides noted the positive state of the bilateral relations at this stage. The foreign ministers discussed the urgent issues of the Belarusian-Ukrainian relations including the continuation of an active dialogue at high level, expansion of trade and economic cooperation and the finalization of ratification of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border treaty.
Sergei Martynov noted that Belarus is ready to finalize the ratification of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border treaty during the spring session of the Belarusian National Assembly. On 24 February, the Council of the House of Representatives included the issue related to ratification of the border treaty in the agenda of the session. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Piotr Poroshenko introduced new Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Roman Bezsmertny to Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov.
Sergei Martynov has arrived in Kiev as a member of the Belarusian official delegation led by the President of the Republic of Belarus to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Viktor Yanukovych as the President of Ukraine.
